CAMILA SANG A SONG

Camila sang a song, and the song stuck… on her head! Depicted as a furry little creature that perches atop Camila’s head, the song warbles along to absolutely everything she does: math homework, eating dinner, even using the toilet. Camila is willing to try just about anything to get the song unstuck. She tries to shake it loose by running; she takes it to an obedience class; she looks for a potential pet-owner to adopt it. But no matter what Camila does, the song just trills, hoots, and beatboxes happily in harmony. Camila is ready to give up on ever getting it unstuck. Until someone comes along who recognizes her song…

THE GUNDERSONS' NEW DOG

Mr. and Mrs. Gunderson are dog experts, not baby experts. So when they babysit their infant niece Annie, they can’t figure out why she keeps crying. She won’t drink her milk from a bowl, go potty in the yard, or even sleep in a dog bed! Fortunately, little Roberta Flipperbee from next door has learned a thing or two about babies from her stinky little sister. Roberta is more than happy to lend the Gundersons her sister’s bottle, diapers, and even her cradle. When the Gundersons are about to give up on ever getting Annie to stop crying, Roberta steps in, and learns a little something about her own sister in the process—that all babies really want is love.

RUN CAT, HIDE CAT

RUN CAT, HIDE CAT is a spare, 150-word picture book for younger children that uses rhythmic text and alternating viewpoints to show a relationship developing between a child and a new pet cat. The "slink cat, flat cat, don't-make-me-bat cat" is timid and wants to be left alone, but the exuberant "want kid, wail kid, yank-that-tail kid" is desperate to play with his new friend. Eventually the child tries sitting quietly and allowing the cat to come to him. Finally, the cat grows comfortable with the child, and soon becomes a "scritch my ear cat... yes, right here cat!"

HOW TO HIKE IN THE WOODS: AN IRRESPONSIBLE GUIDE

HOW TO HIKE IN THE WOODS is an adventure-guide parody that gives kids highly questionable advice on a variety of hiking topics, such as how to approach wildlife (if it’s cute and cuddly, you can probably touch it), appropriate clothing (formal attire is recommended at all times), and essential equipment (including an oriental rug and the family cat). With recurring gags about untrustworthy Boy Scouts and bears who lure hikers back to their dens (for tea and gossip, of course!), HOW TO HIKE IN THE WOODS is a cheekily amoral picture book for kids ages 5 and up.
